Interconnecting Data in a Decentralized Way

Q: It’s your first time joining the Mask Network community, can you give a brief introduction about Meson? What it does, and what its vision and mission are?
In the short term, Meson as a bandwidth trading platform aims to effectively allocate cross-industry and cross-regional bandwidth resources for reducing the cost of silence in the long-tail bandwidth market and allow people to use much cheaper bandwidth.
In the long term, Meson strives for the core of interconnecting data in a decentralized way and serves as the cornerstone of data transmission in the Web3 world to build up an efficient, safe, and stable data transmission road for the entire Web3 world.

Q: Meson can you introduce the operating mechanism and technical implementation of Meson products?

Problem Meson focus on:
Bandwidth waste: The long-tail bandwidth market: A software engineer rents cloud servers from AWS and Alibaba Cloud. People cannot precisely evaluate the resources they really need and configure much more than they need to avoid a high load. As a result, the situation becomes paying a monthly/yearly billing to cloud service providers without fully utilize services. Therefore, he would like to find some way to monetize idle resources such as computing, storage, and bandwidth.

On the one hand, a lot of bandwidth resources are wasted, and the demand for bandwidth is very large.

Data security:
it is impossible for a centralized server provider to completely guarantee the privacy of data.

Meson Solution:
The Architecture of Meson Network not only considers applications and the storage, but also the Traffic Router, Api-Gate, Anti-Fraud System, Speed tester, etc.

Reach the long-tail user with low cost:
Compared with Traditional CDN providers, Meson.Network’s business strategy is focused on the sinking market. That means from both service providers and end-users, Meson.Network focus on small and medium customers. Meanwhile, with the application of blockchain technology, it uses Meson tokens to encourage people to provide idle bandwidth. For miners, that means the threshold is lowered, because a general server can be used for mining. Meanwhile, for the SMEs who need to accelerate their content, the costs of CDN will be decreased dramatically.
Due to the special bandwidth acquisition method, decentralized bandwidth can guarantee users’ privacy to a greater extent.

Q: What is the bottleneck for the decentralized storage market on blockchain for the time being? Will Meson bring us some breakthroughs?
It is very slow to load.
They can’t promise you a better experience of retrieving this digital asset. In the face of such a problem, our project called Meson Network can help you set up a layer of acceleration network on the top of the storage public chain to ensure that you can retrieve the file quickly and have a better user experience. You can not request it to be reliable and also to be fast, right? Splitting this question and sending it to two different projects, one is to allow you to save it for a long time and the other is to assist you in retrieving it quickly. These two projects are independent of each other. I think this will solve the problem to some extent.
Meson has been the first gateway integrated with Arweave and opened to IPFS as well. With the acceleration of Meson, currently, Arweave can not only save small files, but now it is beginning to save large stocks of files and videos.

Q: Can you tell us about Meson’s investment background?
Meson has gone through two rounds of financing. Meson’s main backers are Mask Network, Libertus Capital, HashGlobal, Digital Currency Group, Arweave, HashKey Capital.

Q: How will Meson develop application scenarios in the NFT market?
We have noticed the problem of NFT storage early on. Decentralized storage cannot solve the needs of users for fast storage and reading. Only the NFT or Web3 infrastructure established by the combination of Meson and decentralized storage can better serve the NFT consumer market. Solanart has already been stored in Arweave and Meson provides the acceleration service. More top-tiers partnerships are on approach. Solanart is just the beginning, which is a good use case and also the stress test (1M users online at the same time) for Meson.

We will first establish a cooperative relationship around several large decentralized storage ecosystems because NFT being stored on decentralized storage is already a trend.

Q: What is the number of nodes in Meson now? How should users participate in it?
Meson Network, integrated with 43k+ nodes, has reached 🌝43.5 Tbps (1/7 of Akamai with 18.936B Market Cap).

On the demand side, you can buy our services like other traditional CDN firms provide, at an almost 60% cheaper price.

On the supply side, you can run the idle server on Meson and acquire tokens in return.

Q: What will be the future collaboration with Mask Network?
Mask, as Meson’s early supporter and partnership, is a remarkable traffic portal in Web3 and Meson not only provides acceleration service for Mask but also will launch ITO on Mask Network. That is not just a win-win situation but a tripartite win-win ( Mask, Meson, and Ecosystem).

Q: How is the development of Meson’s product progressing now? What is Meson’s next step？ What are the plans for rapid growth in terms of users, global markets, and partners?
Meson’s test net token will launch on ERC-20, which is a significant step for Meson to achieve the core of Web3 and be more user-friendly. Besides If it becomes tradable, mining demands will even increase and lead to larger bandwidth.
Meson attaches great importance to cooperation with B-end users, whether it is a file storage project or a streaming media project, or you are from a traditional industry or the blockchain industry. The products and services we currently design can meet all the demands of our customers, and there is no need to install plug-ins so that the threshold for users is relatively low.
In terms of user growth, on the one hand, Meson will launch a mechanism(airdrop for miners, staking economy, burned with service fee) that is friendly to miners and early supporters in the first place. On the other hand, we will provide the cheapest, safest and most effective service to customers who use our products.
On the premise of focusing on our own service, we are glad to see all the potential cooperation or suggestions from organizations or individuals.

How to prevent the scenario where terminal users used IP pools to fake a large amount of access requests and maliciously earn tokens?
The function of synchronous speed measurement will be integrated into the Meson system. Multiple speed testers send speed measurement commands to the highly relevant IP at the same time. When the speed of the synchronous speed measurement result declines dramatically compared with the normal speed measurement result, this user is suspected of cheating, and there will be corresponding punishment.

What would happen if users used Meson to cache illegal content?
An ai program will be launched in the subsequent official version. Users can run the program on the machine with the meson node. The cached content can be detected and If it is illegal content, it will be refused to store.

How to deal with cheating terminal nodes that do not transmit data or transmit wrong data?
There is a credit mechanism in the new version. The credit will be slowly accumulated when the terminal is stable online. The higher the credit accumulation, the higher the reward. A validator function node is designed to randomly check the transmission of files on the terminal. Once the cached files in one terminal encounter non-transmission or transmission errors, the reward for this terminal will be greatly reduced.
